This email has just been received from the Pembroke Dock Chamber of Commerce -

I received a telephone call this morning from a person who introduced himself as John Phillips from the Local Police Initiative. He claimed to be telephoning me as the only cookshop in the area and the business was to be featured in the local police magazine'! I questioned this and asked him what division of the police he was from, he then told me that he wasn't part of the police, but represented and was working with, the local police station furthermore he was producing the magazine as part of the local police initiative. Ever the cautious one, I then enquired the name of his contact at the local police station for verification, he replied that he would "just go and find that information for me", then he cut off the call abruptly, clearly not relishing the scrutiny.

Senior designer Leo Ayres is currently working on this A4 folded full colour leaflet for Pembrokeshire Therapy.

The client wanted a design that reflected the colours of the natural environment without any harshness. Indeed they expressly said that they wanted curves in the design rather than right angles. It was for this reason that Leo took the pebble shape as the design theme that runs through the whole leaflet.

When a 1 or 2 color job is printed the colours are created using a completely different system to full colour and therefore must be saved differently. With full colour printing all the colours are created by laying down 4 layers of tiny dots of Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black ( CMYK ) ink. These tiny dots when viewed by the human eye create the illusion of the full colour spectrum. However if you look at them through a magnifying glass you will see them as they really are.

Website photographs are not generally high enough resolution to use in commercial printing. The reason for this is that computer monitors create their images by using different colours of light. This makes them very forgiving to low resolution images. What's more by using low resolution images less memory is used on each web page which speeds up it download time. A typical website photo is saved at 72 dots per square inch ( dpi ).

Snowdon no longer holds any fears for Trevor, his brother Owen and friends.

Last weekend they traveled up to North Wales to prove that printers can do it on mountain tops, when they climbed up and back down Snowdon. What's more contrary to popular opinion Trevor did not need to be airlifted back down suffering from exhaustion and altitude sickness. Fortified by a bottle of Magners at the Summit he bravely climbed ( or rather stumbled ) all the way back down as well.

We have been advised that callers from this number say they are from “The Pembrokeshire Guide”. When they are challenged to give their name and to state whether they are from the County Council, they hang up.

On other occasions, the caller has said they are from “Great Days Out “, and becomes abusive when told they are not needed.
