Floating wind has made significant advances in recent years and is set to become a major contributor to global offshore wind capacity over the coming decades. Today, the UK leads the world in deployment of floating wind and has the opportunity to develop a sustainable industry supporting large-scale employment, exports and GVA. Floating wind is an important counterpart to fixed offshore wind and will make an increasingly important contribution to realising the full potential of the sector. Floating wind sites in the South west and Scotland will support the UK offshore wind supply chain, with 57% UK content expected by 2031 and 65% by 2050.
