How To Write A Strapline For Your Business

 What is A Strapline?

A strapline is a memorable phrases used to increase brand awareness and sum up what you do in any advertising. Here are a few tips to consider when writing it..

Embed your strapline in your logo.

Straplines works best with logos, mainly because the purpose of these two are intertwined: retention. A visually crafted brand with a catchy strapline can do a lot of good in any brand awareness campaign.  For example, whenever you see Modern Print & Designs logo it has our strapline, "Tailored marketing online & in print," underneath it.

Simplicity.

The 30–second rule states that you only have a half a minute to connect with your audience, so make sure to use it wisely.

Design a logo that is simple but strong enough to convey the brand and write a strapline that is brief, easy on the ears, and sums up what your brand is all about.

Your strapline should be no longer that one-sentence. Brevity is the key.

Spend time in planning, discussing and drafting your strapline.

Good straplines cannot be done in haste. Everything must be carefully planned and discussed for greater impact. Provide a well-written explanation of the company’s vision and mission.

Honesty.

There’s a misunderstanding that advertising campaigns are made to deceive consumers. This is not true, honesty sells.

You cannot force your consumer to buy your product, you must allow them to see for themselves what makes you stand out from the competition or what benefits you can offer them in the long run.

By keeping your  strapline honest, you instantly create a sense of brand integrity, and when you achieve and maintain integrity, you encourage word-of-mouth marketing.

Add Humor.

The audience responds better to humor than to seriousness. If you can make them laugh and smile with your strapline, then it is more likely that they will remember your product or service when they have a need. Remember, humor not lameness. If you can’t make it work with good old-fashioned humor, then opt for offering benefits, guaranteeing a promise, or ensuring satisfaction.
