Job Description: Web Designer & Graphic Design Assistant
Hours:
16 hours per week. Start and finish time to be negotiated.
Pay:
First 6 months £7.00 per hour
After 6 months £7.50 per hour followed by annual reviews.
Holidays:
Full time equivalent of 28 days which must include –
The Christmas shut down period, typically 1 1/2 weeks (full time).
2 weeks in August (full time).
All national Bank Holidays or equivalent.
Your holiday entitlement for the first year will be worked out on a pro rata basis. It is calculated from 1st October each year.
NB – as a small firm we can be flexible over the occasional day off for doctors and family events etc if the time is made up.
Training:
Top up and practical experience training will be provided by Modern Print & Design for the graphic design side of the candidates work. However, the candidate will be expected to be able to work independently designing and creating commercial web sites.
Duties: Main
Design and construction of commercial web sites and advising customers on search engine optimisation. Assisting the Graphic Designer in the production of 1, 2, 3 and full colour work such as brochures, business forms, leaflets and letter heads. Both these duties include producing logos, layouts, photo retouching, scanning, etc.
Secondary:
Serving retail and trade customers, answering the phone, etc.
However, because Modern Print & Design is a small firm your work will not be limited to just this. You will be expected to take part in a range of other activities, broadening your skills base & decision making skills further than a large firm would (this is the beauty of working in a small team, we all muck in).
Business Profile:
Modern Print & Design is a family owned business founded in 1960 by Mr C E Profile: Collins. Since then the firm has moved with the times & is now diversifying into web design. As such there will initially be little web design work until a regular client base is established. For this period your duties will mainly be assisting the graphic designer. The firm is now run by Mr Trevor Collins.
