Laminating paper ( as apposed to encapsulating it – see https://www.modernprint.co.uk/news.php?newsID=142 ) is not generally a good idea because it will cause the page to curl.
This is because the laminate comes on a roll which naturally produces a curl in the plastic. It therefore needs to be applied to something strong enough to hold the curling action down. Indeed we recommend a very minimum of 200gsm art paper or 160gsm uncoated paper. However it is generally best to use something a little bit thicker again such as a 250gsm art card.
