The Harbourmaster of Milford Haven came to us wanting to give its brand a refresh. The popular restaurant and bar on Milford Marina has seen great success and wanted a new logo to match the standard of their food and drink.
As always, the first thing we did was invite the managers of the restaurant to come to our studio for a design meeting. Our logo designers spoke with the managers to drill down on what was really important to the business. The main themes we discovered were; the marina, sailboats and seafood.
To incorporate the marina and sailing, it was decided to keep the boat (from their old logo) but to modernise it. Our logo designers did this by changing it’s form to be simple and clean. With the new form, we integrated it into the business name with the boat sails forming the first “a” in Harbourmaster. We added a set of three simple wave shapes underneath the business name to designate the sea.
We now needed to expand on the idea of integrating seafood into the design. To make sure this was not missed, we added a simple scalloped effect to the back of the menu. Using interlocking two-tone arches, we created an impression of the scales of a fish.
